A classic, quick ride when you don’t have much time, this can easily be reversed in direction, but feels easier anti-clockwise. After the initial climb to Fenwick, the A77 feels relatively flat heading north, despite the obvious downhill heading south (we like roads like that). A shortcut can be made turning left before Mearnskirk and tackling the steep rises past the fisheries, or an extra loop past Mearnskirk, and into Newton Mearns can add a few extra miles. Once the old Glasgow-Stewartong Road is acquired, the tough climb past the Quarry gives the legs one final test, before the fast blast back through Stewarton.
