It doesnt get much better than this!! One for the climbers and its a dead end road so remember, what goes down must cycle back up! Best to tackle this early as it clogs up with coaches later in the day. Getting there is not easy, starting with an ascent of the Coll de Femenia, its a good track to the descent and the climb to the top is pretty tough going to.
The decent of Sa Colobra ( Col de Reis) is very fast and very windy with big drops so be careful, check your brakes before tackling this one. This route is used by team Sky and others during their traniing camps.
The ascent is epic and could well be the best climb in the world! 9.4Km, 668 M with average gradient of 7.1% and 12 % Max...... say no more. According to Cycling Weekly Magazine "Rumour has it that Sir Bradley Wiggins holds the unofficial record for Sa Calobra, having set a time of around 22:30 during the winter before his Tour de France victory (which gives a VAM, or ascent rate, of 1,750m per hour). Given that a number of other professional teams and riders use the climbfor pre-season training, times are often understandably kept under wraps."
The trip back to Puerto Pollensa is fast with a great descent back to Pollensa followed by the usual sprint finish into the port.
